Thanks for reaching out, Kristy.
When you mention “Psychology of Leadership activities that can be used in an executive coaching context,” could you tell me a bit more about what you’re looking for?
Are you referring to experiential exercises or reflection-based activities that explore leadership psychology concepts such as emotional intelligence, motivation, or influence for use in coaching sessions? Or are you thinking of ready-to-use workshop materials or frameworks?
Once I have a better sense of what you have in mind, I can point you toward or create something that fits exactly what you’re looking for.

Hugo Alberts I would like to see reflection-based activities that explore leadership psychology concepts, but I would like frameworks to address handling crises; such as job loss, or navigating decisions among challenging economic and organizational changes.

Hi Nancy, thanks for sharing this! I want to make sure I understand what you're looking for.
It sounds like you'd like reflection activities for leaders going through major transitions or difficult decisions, things like processing a job loss, navigating uncertainty, or leading teams through organizational change. Is that right?
There are some great evidence-based frameworks we could draw from for something like this:
- Adaptive Leadership (Heifetz) for distinguishing technical problems from adaptive challenges
- Psychological Capital (PsyCap) for building hope, efficacy, resilience, and optimism
- Decision-making under ambiguity frameworks
- Post-traumatic growth principles applied to professional setbacks
Are you thinking more about crisis recovery (helping someone process what's already happened) or proactive resilience building (preparing leaders for potential challenges ahead)?

Hi Hugo,
Please accept my apologies for just now responding. Yes, you are correct. I think Adaptive Leadership tools would be particularly excellent here.
My clients are currently navigating active layoffs; where they have been laid off, and then others are managing the organizational changes and addressing low morale among the remaining team. In fact, I'm helping a specific client work through the ethical struggles of the process. The other piece is navigating the integration of Ai, where one client believes that there is an over-reliance on using this specific technology.
Given that, the focus is definitely on crisis recovery, helping them process and lead through what is happening right now.

No worries at all. I've created three exercises based on what you described:
- The Balcony View
A reflection exercise based on Heifetz's adaptive leadership framework. It helps leaders step back from the chaos of their current situation and observe it from a distance, distinguishing between technical problems (that have clear solutions) and adaptive challenges (that require deeper change). This one works well for clients who are in the thick of organizational change and need perspective.
- Navigating Job Loss for Leaders
Specifically designed for leaders who have been laid off themselves. It helps them unbundle the multiple losses that come with job loss (not just income, but identity, community, purpose, routine) and process the weight of that experience. It also guides them toward recognizing what remains and what they might be ready to release.
- Leading Through Ethical Conflict
For clients navigating the ethical struggles you mentioned. It helps leaders get clear on the specific type of ethical tension they're facing, map where the conflict between their values and organizational pressure actually lives, and explore a full range of options for responding with integrity. This one includes interactive elements where clients can identify which response strategies feel realistic for their situation.
All three include practitioner sections with scientific background, goals, and advice on how to use them with clients.
I'd love to hear how they land with you and your clients! You're more than welcome to join the Quenza Community here: https://community.quenza.com/
